Keynote Speaker: Rev. Dr. Flora Wilson Bridges
The Reverend Dr. Flora Wilson Bridges is the Senior Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn, New York, one of America's most culturally diverse, tolerant and inclusive congregations. She was the first Spehar-Halligan Professor of Ecumenical Collaboration in Inter-Religious Dialogue at Seattle University's School of Theology and Ministry and most recently taught a course there on the "Beloved Community" drawing on the vision of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
At a time of discord in our country, Rev. Dr. Wilson Bridges states "perhaps the very heart of my service as a pastor, professor and theologian is the ministry of reconciliation." To address what is sometimes called a "compassion deficit syndrome," her work "seeks to address the very root of violence, hatred and intolerance toward those who are often the most marginalized and vulnerable in our society and the world."
An author, Rev. Dr. Wilson Bridges is ordained by The Presbyterian Church of the United States of America. She earned a Masters of Arts in Religion at Yale Divinity School and a Doctor of Philosophy in Religion at Vanderbilt University.
The Church Council of Greater Seattle is honored to welcome Rev. Dr. Flora Wilson Bridges back to Seattle to celebrate our Annual Dinner, "Let Justice Roll!"
